Biography Kim Märkl

 

Kim Märkl was born in 1961 in Cleveland, Ohio.  She completed her B.M. at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and her Masters at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.  In 1985 she received a Fulbright Grant to study in Freiburg, Germany where she completed an Artist’s Diploma in clarinet.  The following year she met her husband while performing together at the Tanglewood music festival and returned to Germany, where she has been active as a chamber and orchestral musician.  Since 2002 she has been working as an author, composer and producer. 

Her pieces have been performed in concert halls throughout Germany and her music, books and CDs have been released by publishers in Germany and America. 

Her production of The Story of the Ring of the Nibelungen  received the coveted Leopold Audio Book Prize.
